Fay Wallis:

Hello, and welcome to this special surprise extra episode

Fay Wallis:

because I have something really exciting to share with you that I

Fay Wallis:

hope you're going to enjoy and find helpful and can't wait to take part in.

Fay Wallis:

But before I tell you all about it, I'd love to start by asking you a

Fay Wallis:

question, which is how confident do you feel about being strategic?

Fay Wallis:

Is it something that you feel really confident about, or does

Fay Wallis:

the idea of it feel a bit daunting?

Fay Wallis:

Or do you just feel like there isn't enough time to be strategic because

Fay Wallis:

you're so busy with everything else you've got going on at work?

Fay Wallis:

If your answer to any of these questions is that you wish you felt

Fay Wallis:

more confident or that you did have more time for being strategic at work,

Fay Wallis:

I'd like to reassure you that you are absolutely not alone in feeling that way.

Fay Wallis:

Over the years, I've coached and trained hundreds of HR and people professionals,

Fay Wallis:

and being strategic is one of the things people tell me they lack confidence

Fay Wallis:

in more than almost anything else.

Fay Wallis:

I've had people describe it as their kryptonite.

Fay Wallis:

Others have told me that just hearing the phrase "be more strategic"

Fay Wallis:

makes them feel slightly panicky.

Fay Wallis:

I've had someone tell me that they think they might be allergic to it,

Fay Wallis:

and there are so many people who have said that they wish that they could

Fay Wallis:

be more strategic, but they just don't know how they can fit it in.

Fay Wallis:

Because by the time they've dealt with meetings, emails, employee

Fay Wallis:

relations issues, and everything else that lands on their desk, they feel

Fay Wallis:

like there's just no time left for strategic thinking and strategic work.

Fay Wallis:

So if any of that sounds familiar to you, if you can resonate with

Fay Wallis:

anything that I've been describing, I completely understand, and I

Fay Wallis:

hope you feel reassured that it's not just you who feels like this.

Fay Wallis:

I know that if you're listening to a podcast or watching a podcast, it's really

Fay Wallis:

easy to think, "Oh, that's a great idea. I must give that a try later," only to then

Fay Wallis:

get caught up with work and completely forget about it, or get distracted.

Fay Wallis:

Because often we're doing other things while we're listening

Fay Wallis:

to a podcast or watching one.

Fay Wallis:

I know that I do.

Fay Wallis:

I'm a big podcast listener myself.

Fay Wallis:

I love listening to all kinds of podcasts while I'm in the car, or doing the

Fay Wallis:

cooking, or putting my makeup on in the morning, and there are so many times that

Fay Wallis:

I hear an idea and think, "Oh, I must remember that," or, "I must try that,"

Fay Wallis:

and then I completely forget about it, unless I literally pause the episode there

Fay Wallis:

and then and make some sort of notes.

Fay Wallis:

So because I know that that's what I do, that it might be what you're

Fay Wallis:

doing as well, I wanted to create something slightly different to help

Fay Wallis:

So I'm really excited to share that to help you build your confidence and

Fay Wallis:

your skills with being strategic, I have created the strategic HR sprint.

Fay Wallis:

It is a five-day sprint to help you become more strategic in HR. And because

Fay Wallis:

I know how busy you are, I've made it as realistic and doable for you as possible.

Fay Wallis:

When you sign up to the free sprint, every morning for five days in a row,

Fay Wallis:

you will receive an email from me, and it will have a video, if you prefer

Fay Wallis:

to watch, or an audio to listen to, and they'll be really, really, really

Fay Wallis:

short, so they're quick to listen to.

Fay Wallis:

I'll try my absolute best to make them as concise as I can.

Fay Wallis:

You'll also get a worksheet to go along with the ideas that I'm sharing that

Fay Wallis:

day, and also an optional AI prompt for you to use to really help deepen your

Fay Wallis:

learning and help you get to it more quickly and, and build your confidence

Fay Wallis:

with AI at the same time, I suppose

Fay Wallis:

Each day's activity is going to take you around 10 to 15 minutes, so it's long

Fay Wallis:

enough to help you think differently and short enough that you can actually do it.

Fay Wallis:

Throughout the week, so throughout the five days, we'll tackle some of

Fay Wallis:

the biggest barriers to becoming more strategic, helping you understand what

Fay Wallis:

being strategic really means, where you can have the greatest impact in

Fay Wallis:

your role, and how to make strategic thinking part of your everyday work.

Fay Wallis:

We'll also tackle one of the biggest barriers to being

Fay Wallis:

strategic in HR, which is time.

Fay Wallis:

Together, we'll look at practical ways to create more space for strategic

Fay Wallis:

thinking so it doesn't feel like something you're always desperately trying to get

Fay Wallis:

to, it's something that you are doing

Fay Wallis:

my hope is that by the end of the week, you'll not only feel more confident

Fay Wallis:

about being strategic, you'll also feel like you finally have a practical way

Fay Wallis:

to make it part of your working week.

Fay Wallis:

The strategic HR sprint starts on Monday the 13th of July, and I would

Fay Wallis:

absolutely love you to join me.

Fay Wallis:

You can sign up by visiting brightskyhr.co.uk/sprint, and I'll

Fay Wallis:

also pop the link to it in the show notes if you're listening to the audio

Fay Wallis:

version of this podcast, as well as putting it in the YouTube description

Fay Wallis:

if you're watching the video version.

Fay Wallis:

And if you know another HR professional who you think would enjoy taking part

Fay Wallis:

and would really benefit from the sprint, please do encourage them to sign up too.

Fay Wallis:

I would love this sprint to reach as many people it would

Fay Wallis:

be helpful for as possible.

Fay Wallis:

You could even commit to helping each other if you have got a friend in HR who

Fay Wallis:

you think would like to do it as well.

Fay Wallis:

So you can commit to helping each other get through the sprint and stick to it

Fay Wallis:

by blocking 15 minutes in your calendar, so both of you choose the same time.

Fay Wallis:

You can go through the sprint together and share ideas and bounce ideas around

Fay Wallis:

afterwards, or you can just WhatsApp each other at the end of the day and

Fay Wallis:

check on on how you're both getting on.

Fay Wallis:

Or if you lead an HR team, why not encourage your team

Fay Wallis:

to take part in it together?

Fay Wallis:

It could spark some fantastic conversations, help everyone build their

Fay Wallis:

confidence with strategic thinking, and strengthen the impact that your

Fay Wallis:

team has across the organisation.

Fay Wallis:

if you have any questions about the sprint at all, please do

Fay Wallis:

feel free to drop me an email.

Fay Wallis:

You can always reach me at hello@brightskyhr.co.uk, and I will

Fay Wallis:

be very happy to help, or you can just leave me a comment underneath

Fay Wallis:

the YouTube version of this podcast

Fay Wallis:

Thank you so much for listening or watching, and I really hope I'll see

Fay Wallis:

you in the Strategic HR Sprint soon
